SECOND LIFE -A Paper Presentation on Virtual Reality

Our innovations have given us the power to transform our environment. Technologies have made this possible—from the simplest wooden plough to the most advanced personal computers. Throughout the journey of shaping the world, our technology went a long way in transforming our lives only physically but have you heard of a promising technology which brings about physical as well as mental transformations?. With the recent breakthrough in information technology, virtual reality has made it possible.

Virtual Reality is stimulating the user’s senses in such a way that a computer generated world is experienced as real. The computer presents the stimulating 3-D environment which creates sense of presence and deeply engaged by providing the interface using display devices like Head-Mounted Display (HMD), Binocular Omni-Orientation Monitor (BOOM), &Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE).The participant interacts with computer generated 3-D world through input devices like Data Gloves, Joysticks, Hand-Held Wands, & Body Sensors. Virtual world gives mental support to people with disabilities, cancer, AIDS, strokes, depression and other ailments, there by giving them second life. Its other applications include simulation of surgical incision, Virtual Prototyping, & Information Visualization. Thus, virtual reality brings the imagination as close and realistic as reality itself.

In short, virtual reality is the simulation of another world, the world in which the user can see through his own eyes, the world in which a user can experience his aspirations virtually and do it really, and the world which can be rightly called as his second life.

Multi Stage Car Parking System in a building

ABSTRACT:
One of the most important aspects of the transportation system is the accommodation of stationary motor vehicles: parking provision and its quality is crucial to the overall performance of the road, transport system. Unfortunately the failure in many communities to meet parking demand results in the development of several problems. Slow moving cars whose drivers are searching for parking places and drivers who do not know all possible alternatives regarding the best choice of car park or time of travel are common problems faced in urban road networks. Increased drivers stress and journey times, costs and energy consumption are frequent consequences.
In order to avoid these adverse effects we propose a multi stage car parking system in a private building using 8051 microcontroller, light sensors, seven segment display unit and motors, utilizing the concept of embedded systems. This system senses the car requiring parking slot, finds an empty slot in the parking building and transports the car to the appropriate slot through an automatic lift. In this way the problems of traffic jam and time delays are solved with implementation of separate building for parking.

ROBOT CONTROLLING WITH MOBILE

ABSTRACT

In this project we are going to use the robot to monitor the surrounding areas. And here we are controlling the Robot using GSM mobile phones. The surroundings are monitored through the Wireless camera and are viewed at the PC with the help of the receiver. Here the mobile signals are decoded through a DTMF receiver and are sent to the microcontroller at the Robot section to awake the robot to change its direction. Beyond controlling the robot direction through the mobile here we are also controlling the position of the camera. Here the DC motors are used as the wheels of the robot as well as for position controlling of the camera since because of the load effective problems.

CRYPTOGRAPHY & NETWORK SECURITY

The common problem today faced by all the computer professionals around the world is the security of their computers. Now, why is it that computer professional need security? What are they afraid of? Well the answer is very simple and one which is well Known, a Hacker.

Hacking is a perennial concern for anyone who is into computer technology, either as a novice or an expert. ‘Hacking’ and ‘Hackers’ are terms that generally tend to have a negative effect on people. The wrong notion that people have is that ‘Hackers” are computer criminals or people who cause harm to systems, release viruses, etc. The media is also responsible for wrongly using the term “Hacker” referring computer criminals.

Our opinions do not go hand in hand with the media and the people who refer computer criminals as ‘Hackers’. Simultaneously is no way do we blame them for holding such a negative opinion. The fact is that one tends to accept what is being fed to him. Well, ‘Hackers’ in reality are actually good, pleasant and extremely intelligent people, who by using their knowledge in a constructive manner, helping organizations to secure documents and company secrets, helping the government to protect national documents of strategic importance and even sometimes helping justice to meet its ends by ferreting out electronic evidence. These are the people who help to keep computer criminals on the run. And that is why it is a must that every one who is somehow involved in computer technology need to know the hacking skills to protect his/her system from other hackers. A soldier well equipped with weapons is sent to the war and not a farmer. Similarly mean computer security starts with an educated user. This paper throws light on the important techniques of Ethical Hacking to counter the Unethical Hacking

RFID

Abstract:
The technology for radio frequency identification (RFID) enables data to be transmitted by a tiny portable device, called a tag, which is read by an RFID reader and processed according to the needs of a particular application. It is only recently that the technology has begun to take off in the mass market. Analysts predict that RFID will revolutionize areas of industry, such as supply chain management and the retail business, for example by reducing costs with better stock management. This paper focuses on the application of RFID technology in mobile telecommunication services. Several ideas for applications as well as possible areas for standardization efforts are presented. Apart frompurely technical concepts, the challenging aspects of security and privacy are discussed

Magnetic Ram......The future RAM

Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory (MRAM) combines a magnetic device with standard silicon-based microelectronics to obtain the combined attributes of non-volatility, high-speed operation and unlimited read and write endurance not found in any other existing memory technology. We describe how the cell architecture, bit structure, and the toggle switching mode are combined to provide significantly improved operational performance and manufacturability as compared to MRAM based on conventional switching. One potential barrier to MRAM manufacturability is associated with the method of write selection in which two orthogonal currents in coincidence must write data, whereas each of the orthogonal currents alone cannot disturb the data. This "2D" selection method places constraints on uniformity of MRAM memory cells. Using a transistor per cell for write select greatly improves operating margins and lowers write currents.

Nanotechnology.......... Long life in an open world

We the humans have lived in various kinds of ages; Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, and silicon age. Each and every age has its own impact on the life of human beings. Nevertheless we are well in to the new and emerging age called 'Nano age'. The age where no one knows what is a disease? And what is aging? Imagine curing cancer by drinking medicine stirred into your favorite juice, a super computer no bigger than a human cell. These are just a few promises of nanotechnology. Nanotechnology promises to make us healthy and wealthy, and it will be able to do so without consuming any natural resources or without spewing pollution in to the environment. My paper will be focusing on how this Nano--Technology plays a vital role in improving life of humans by eliminating virtually all kinds of deadly viral diseases such as cancer and also focuses on how can we eliminate all kinds of old age diseases that are faced by the today's mankind, thereby prolonging the life of humans far beyond the current limitation, making life more enjoyable.
